Oral cancer affects over 54,000 Americans annually, and early detection dramatically changes outcomes. At Dental Magik, screening is a standard part of every comprehensive exam. We systematically examine the soft tissues of your mouth, throat, tongue, and lips—and document what we find.
This is not a quick glance and a verbal ‘looks fine.’ If we identify anything that warrants monitoring, you see it on screen. You understand what we’re tracking and why. If referral is warranted, you see the evidence supporting that recommendation.
What Screening Involves
Visual and tactile examination of all oral soft tissues: lips, tongue, floor of the mouth, cheeks, palate, throat, and gum tissue. Documentation of areas requiring monitoring. Risk factor discussion. Referral to specialist if findings warrant further investigation.
Who Should Be Screened?
Everyone. Oral cancer does not discriminate by age or lifestyle, though risk increases with tobacco use, heavy alcohol consumption, HPV infection, prolonged sun exposure, and family history. Regular screening provides the best chance of early detection, when treatment is most effective.
